Doug. The sarcastic sidekick. Playful by nature but built like a small tank. Standing at 6″2 with short, dark blonde hair and brown eyes he is instantly intimidating but in a Labrador guarding his ball kinda way. You know he loves that ball and is telling you not to fuck with it, but as soon as you have it all he wants to do is play catch.
Landlord of The Dukes pub for over 10 years, his reputation as being fun and strong of character was well known. A fair (and somewhat overly lenient) boss and a loyal friend to Rowan (although Rowan would never admit as much), he spends his days playing host to the pub customers, mingling and chatting.
Single and independent, Doug enjoys what he does greatly. Being a part of a group is important to him and he constantly feels the need to be around people. His relationship with Rowan is…humourous to put it bluntly. Doug feels great brotherly love for him and it genuinely pains him to see Rowan in such a shit situation. He knows something happened to him at some earlier stage in his life, but Rowan has never directly spoken about it so Doug had never pried, fearing that doing so would push Rowan further away.
Doug is quite immune to Rowan’s brooding temperament. He has become used to his mood swings and dry one-liners, choosing humour and high spirits as his counter methods.
When he discovers that Rowan is planning to branch out his social life, he is thrilled and starts offering his ideas left, right and center. Rowan reluctantly takes on board some of Doug’s ideas, and Doug is a great companion to him throughout.
